In all three of the books which I read this semester, "The Other Wes Moore", by Wes Moore, "Into the Wild", by Jon Krakuaer, and "The absolutely true diary of a part time Indian", by Sherman Alexie I aw a connection between the choices the characters made about the way of life they would live. I used my artifacts to represent this by using them to represent choices, both good and bad. By showing how each of the characters did turn out because of their choices, and how they would of turned our had they made a different choice.

I learned that people have completely different ideas of the American Dream, but that all dreams can be connected because they're all the choices of the people. I learned that sometimes the right choice for a person won't lead to the happiness and success that they envisioned, but it is their dream all the same. My blog shows this very well, each of these characters made the choice that made them happy in life. Even though it didn't lead to the best out come in two of the cases, because Wes Moore is in prison and Chris Mccanless passed away.

All three books I read connected because they each had clear choices for the main male characters to make. Chris could betray his parents dreams for him and become part of the wilderness and live off the land. Junior could either live with his people and be a part of them, or go somewhere that gives him hope, but become a traitor to his people and Wes Moore had the choice to be a criminal and provide for his family or to get his life to together but be struggling while doing so. My artifacts clearly show all of these ideas, from the wanted poster where the poor choices show the results and the cartoon where the right choice leads to happiness in the characters.

To me the lost important thing to remember about the American Experiences is that is completely individual. each person has a dream so different from the next person. Also, that dreams can be realistic and meaningful, or simply to live for tomorrow, it just depends entirely on what a person in thinking, or wants out of life. My blog shows this even in connecting them, because although they're all connected through choice, the choice is different for each of the characters.
